Independent and Transitional Living Coordinator

 

NATURE OF THE POSITION

The Independent and Transitional Living Coordinator (ITLC) is responsible, under the direction of the Case Manager Supervisor, for coordinating Free Will Baptist Children’s Home’s Independent and Transitional Living programs.  This position involves working with youth, age 18-21, to attain self-supporting independence through apartment living, education, career development and development of life skills. In addition, the ITLC will work with youth in a traditional cottage style residential setting, age 16-21, to developing skills to help move them to next steps in their plan toward independence. The ITLC will be responsible for coaching, case management duties of each youth in their case load as well as program refinement and development. In addition, the ITLC will participate as a PQI team member.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of 3 years’ case management or life coaching experience working with youth age 16-21.

  • At least 1 year experience working with youth, age 18-21, preferred.

  • Proven track record of life coaching skills aimed at promoting independence and responsibility.

  • Case management experience.

  • Knowledge of applicable assessment tools and resources to gauge youth growth measures.

  • Trauma-informed care model training preferred.

  • CARE and TCI knowledge preferred.

  • Licensing and COA knowledge.

  • Familiar with community resources for children and their families and experience in dealing with a multi-faceted set of responsibilities in making certain youth’s needs are met.

  • Experience working with DSS and a working knowledge of private agency interactions with DSS in child placements, case management and plan of care.

  • Meet the qualifications established in policies governing the agency.

  • Able to work with sensitivity to the cultural and/or socioeconomic diversity of clients and staff.

  • Personal and professional conduct which would reflect credit to the agency.

  • Sincere concern for staff, children, and their families.

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

 

COMPENSATION

 Salary is commensurate to education and experience. Full benefits of the agency apply after a 90 day probationary period.

Group Leader (part-time): Bridge Learning Center

 

NATURE OF THE POSITION

The Part Time Group Leader is responsible for supervising groups of school-aged children under the direction of the Director of Child Day Care Programs for the Bridge Learning Center Program of the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home.  This includes developing and nurturing positive relationships with the children in the program and their families, as well as providing quality care.  Our focus is to be actively involved with the children; simply “watching” the children is not allowed.  Group Leaders are genuinely interested in and responsible for providing an environment conducive to child growth and development where they will create and implement activities that encourage self-confidence, spontaneity, curiosity, creativity, and self-discipline which will assist in the enhancement of the child’s social and emotional health.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.  If transportation duties are required, must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  2. High School Diploma (or its equivalent) prior to employment.

  3. Complete BSAC training (or its equivalent) within 60 days of employment. Basic School Age Care (BSAC) is a specialized training on the elements of quality after school care for school-aged children that was developed for and approved by the NC DCDEE.

  4. To learn and administer appropriate First Aid and CPR as required

  5. Considerable knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations that pertain to child care.

  6. Competence in written and oral communication and in interpersonal skills with staff, parents, and children.

  7. A sincere concern for staff and children and their families.

  8. Personal and professional conduct that would reflect credit to the Home, as well as to their profession.

  9. Meet the qualifications established in policies governing the Home.

  10. Able to work with sensitivity to the cultural and/or socioeconomic diversity of the Home’s clients and staff.

  11. Lead daily devotions using Bible stories and approved material.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. Plan and implement lesson plans and follow daily schedules.  Lesson plans are to be completed two weeks in advance.

  2. Work with Program Coordinator to ensure children’s educational needs are met.

  3. Keep accurate records, reports, and incident reports on each child.

  4. Maintain constant supervision of children.

  5. Provide a safe, healthy, caring, positive environment for staff, children and families.

  6. Promote and model good habits for children in eating, resting, toileting, hygiene, and health care.

  7. Encourage and participate in recreational activities with the children.

  8. Perform basic housekeeping duties daily.  These include, but are not limited to, sweeping, mopping, cleaning/sanitizing bathrooms, and taking out the trash.

  9. Drive agency vehicle for transportation needs if required.

  10. Accept additional duties as the need may arise.

Cottage Parent (Full-time)

The Free Will Baptist Children's Home is currently seeking an energetic person to join our team as a full-time Cottage Parent.  Responsibilities include providing on-site supervision of adolescents in a residential setting.  This is a live-in position with rotating days and every other weekend off. 

 

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, a high school graduate, be able to pass a drug screen, have a clean driving record with a valid license, and pass an FBI background check.

The Free Will Baptist Children's Home is currently seeking an energetic person to join our team as a part-time Cottage Parent.  Responsibilities include providing on-site supervision of adolescents in a residential setting.  Applicant must be able to work evenings and weekends. 

 

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, a high school graduate, be able to pass a drug screen, have a clean driving record with a valid license, and pass an FBI background check.
